Email Signatures, Part 1

@ sign in waxThe IsaGeeks frequently get questions about email signatures: what they should look like, what they should say, and what they should link to.  There’s no real right or wrong answer here (for the most part); signatures are a personal choice when it comes to your email communication.

Now, you may want your email signature to reflect your personality, which is fine as long as you don’t go overboard.  Your signature is going to be the last thing your recipient sees, so it affects the tone of every email you send.

The purpose of your email signature is to let someone know how to contact you, but try to do so without giving every single way possible to get in touch with you.  Some Associates prefer to just have their basic information:

Behind the Scenes

We’re sure you have noticed all the great changes we’ve been making to your Associate Back Office, but have you ever wondered just exactly what goes on behind the scenes?  Here is a look into the process that goes into developing our amazing software tools!

From inception to completion, the process of implementing a change to the Associate Back Office involves many steps:

  • First, the enhancement request or bug report comes in to the I.T. department through a ticketing system.  The request is logged, researched and fully documented. (more…)

QR Codes

So what are QR codes? QR stands for “Quick Reference” or “Quick Response”. A QR code is a barcode that is readable by QR scanners (such as mobile phones with cameras and smartphones – hint, hint).  The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a (typically) white background. These codes can redirect the user to a web address, text, or other data:

Google Reader

If you aren’t already familiar with RSS feeds, they’re a fast and easy way to get information.

Google Reader is the search engine’s tool for sifting through this information, and easily sharing it with the rest of your connections.

This video from Google explains it a lot better than I could.

Google Reader is free, you just need a Google log-in. It’s highly recommended as a way to keep track of what is of interest to you.

When you do, try a search for “Isagenix” and see how much syndicated content we’re sharing!

A Great Example of “Sticky Content”

Whether you want new visitors or search engine rankings, the best way to get either is to have sticky content – information on your page that makes people want to stay on your page. If you can make posts to your blog that have low bounce rates and long times on site, (things you can measure with Google Analytics, you haven’t set that up for your site already), people will bookmark your post and share it with others. When they do, this will bring in more visitors to your site. (more…)

If You Want To Do Well, Write Good Content

To get search rankings that bring in lots of new readers (and then, customers), having content that gives people what they need to know is the best search optimization you can do. Never mind including keywords in pages, or asking people to build links to you, or any of the many other tips for optimizing your site for search (although they are important too). (more…)

Tips For Your Blog

When you do start blogging, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind to be successful at it:

1)      You need to post regularly. A lot of people have one idea for a blog post that’s brilliant, so they start a blog, publish that idea, and then… well, nothing. They don’t have any more steam, and so the blog just molders. (As much as electrons in cyberspace can molder.) To keep a blog going, you need a central idea for all posts, and continually think up and publish new aspects of that idea all the time. (more…)

Why You Should Be Blogging

Blogging is one of those things that’s scary to people new to the Internet: You have to write posts, you have to do it often, and you have to be public about it. If it weren’t for all of that writing, the time it takes, and the stage fright, everyone would be blogging.

Of course, everyone is blogging. According to BlogPulse, there are currently 126,861,574 blogs, with over 42,000 new blogs and over 1,000,000 new posts each day. (And that’s just what they’re able to find!)

IsaGeeks Is Live!

So you think you’re a geek, huh? OK. Let’s see what you’re made of…

Pop Quiz:

1. Have you ever built your own PC?
2. Do you know what a dilithium crystal is?
3. Which planet is Han Solo from?
4. You’re fluent in Klingon and now the new language to master is Na’vi, right?

Yeah, we thought so. Listen, we understand that not everyone loves to geek out like we do, but we’re on a mission to change that with IsaGeeks.com, our brand-new blog dedicated to everything related to the Isagenix IT department.
